Monitoring and evaluation education is essential for improving the quality and effectiveness of evaluations through enhancing knowledge and skills of young professionals. There are efforts to promote academic courses on M&E aiming to improve the professionalism of evaluators. However, in many countries, it is challenging to initiate M&E education due to various reasons. In Sri Lanka the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has initiated M&E courses and the Center for Evaluation is supporting M&E education across the country. The Consortium of Institutions on M&E Education in Asia Pacific, an initiative of Asia Pacific Evaluation Association actively mobilizes academic institutions in the region which also published a comprehensive curriculum for M&E education which has been useful for several regions. There are countries that have taken important steps in initiating M&E courses. However, more academic institutions need to be supported to initiate courses and related services to cater the need.
